I’m Angela Smith and am Professor of Language and Culture in the English team. I have published in the areas of post feminism, masculinities and also early 20th century feminism. I spent summer 2013 advising local museums on the suffragette movement as part of the centenary commemorations of the death of Emily Wilding Davison, and was a suffragette at Beamish Museum for a few days. When not dressing up and threatening to break windows, I co-edit the I.B. Tauris International Library of Gender in Popular Culture.
