Royal Academy Summer Exhibition – sustainability focus

In walking around this year’s end-of-year art and design degree shows at Sunderland, it was interesting to see how many students had taken the theme of sustainability and incorporated into their work.

This year many of the works being displayed as part of the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition are also concerned with sustainability. This exhibition has been running since 1769 and is the world’s largest open submission art show, showing art in many different mediums.

If you’re in or near London over the summer and want inspiration for your own art work, or are interested in sustainability, go and check it out.

The exhibition runs until 12th August. There is a charge for entry, but with over 1,500 art works on display, the cost of viewing each piece of art work works out at less than 2p each!
