Up-to-date guidance on prescribing, dispensing and administering medicines.

British Pharmacopoeia

An authoritative collection of quality standards for UK medicines.

Medicines Complete (including access to Martindales)

Provides information on drugs and medicines used globally. Also provides access to Martindales Complete Drug Reference

Pubmed Central

Includes citations from MEDLINE and other life science journals for biomedical articles.

A web-based system for searching the world’s most extensive collection of organic and inorganic chemistry data.

EThOS

Access to the UK’s doctoral research theses available via download from the EThOS database or via links to the institution’s own repository.

SURE

A collection of research outputs produced by academic staff at the University of Sunderland.

The UK’s largest independent producer of official statistics, responsible for collecting and publishing statistics related to the economy, population and society.

LexisNexis contains a news database of full-text UK regional, national and broadsheet newspapers. Coverage goes back as far as January 1982 to the present day for some titles, although this varies by publication.

Framework to help support community pharmacies to meet local need, improving the health and wellbeing of the local population and helping to reduce health inequalities.

Royal Pharmaceutical Society

The professional membership body for pharmacists and pharmacy in Great Britain and an internationally renowned publisher of medicines information.

Cochrane Library

Contains independent evidence to inform healthcare decision-making including systematic reviews abstracts and individual clinical trials.

Community Care Inform

An online resource that enables professionals working with children and young people make and evidence their decisions. If you are off campus click the log in at the top of the screen and select “Sign in via Shibboleth” then select University of Sunderland from the drop down list. You will then be prompted to enter your University ID and password.

e-LfH (eLearning for Healthcare)

Supports patient care by providing e-learning to educate and train health and social care workers. Log in to the e-LfH Hub (check own email account for login details to elfH), then select My Account > Enrolment and select the programme.

Nurse Navigator

Provides a ‘one-stop shop’ for essential must know course information, orientation to the programme and practice placements with access to high quality learning and library resources, integrating clinical and academic learning to support learners and clinical mentors.

This databases focuses on all aspects of human impact to the environment. Its collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles includes content on global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more. The database provides indexing and abstracts for more than 384,000 records, as well as Open Access full text for more than 4,700 records.

Science Direct

Gov.uk (Environment and Countryside)

Official government web site. Topics covered include recycling and waste management where you will find information on all elements of environment including preventing air pollution, hazardous waste etc.

FAOLEX Database

Maintained by the UNs Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), FAOLEX is a comprehensive and up-to-date legislative and policy database, one of the world’s largest electronic collection of national laws, regulations and policies on food, agriculture and natural resources management. Users of FAOLEX have direct access to the abstracts and indexing information about each text, as well as to the full text of the legislation and policies contained in the database.
