Visit Britain – Research and market data

VisitBritain is the national tourism agency that drives inbound tourism. They report that the tourism industry is Britain’s 7th largest export industry and prior to the pandemic was worth £137 billion to the economy.

visitbritain.org is a useful site for students because it publishes research on the size and value of the English tourism market. It also provides destination specific research such as domestic overnight tourism, and the most visited towns as well as consumer behavior  for example a recent report outlines research into city breaks after Covid-19.

In the ‘Inbound and research & insights‘ section there is sector specific research on topics such as inbound culture, heritage & attractions’, inbound food & drink, as well as reports on Britain’s competitiveness.
