Black Lives Matter – a Year On

It’s a year this week since the killing of George Floyd in the United States and I’ve pulled together a number of  programmes from the British Box of Broadcasts (BoB) which look at current and past experiences in a playlist which will appeal to you if you’re studying Community and Youth Work, Criminology, Health and Social Care, Inequality and Society, Professional Policing or Sociology.

The collection on the list includes broadcasts of Oscar Award Winning Director Steve McQueen’s Small Axe series shown on BBC (which is also on iPlayer examining community activism, education, youth, the Brixton Riots and policing), black power (Black Power: a British Story of Resistance) as well as recent programmes on education (Subnormal: a British Scandal), health (Why is Covid Killing People of Colour and Channel 4’s  The Black Maternity Scandal: Dispatches), racism (Let’s Talk About Race: Panarama) and Black American Fight for Freedom.
