Cochrane Reviews are systematic reviews. Their gold standard systematic reviews search for and summarize studies that answer a specific research question (e.g. is paracetamol effective and safe for treating back pain?). The studies are identified, assessed, and summarized by using a systematic and predefined approach. They inform recommendations for healthcare and research.
The blog features new or updated Cochrane reviews on a health topic. Some of the blogs are written primarily for Health Care Professionals, such as the evidence series for nurses, maternity care and allied health professionals as well as the one on Understanding Evidence.
Cochrane is a global independent network of health practitioners, researchers, patient advocates and others. Their aim is to make the evidence generated through research useful for informing decisions about health. It owns the Cochrane Library, which includes a database of searchable gold-standard systematic reviews.
