What kind of music are you into?

Musical score

Here is a collection of musical resources including podcasts, an exhibition, and a socially distanced performance. Whatever your preferred musical genre, we encourage you to take time to explore these joys:

  • The British Library has extensive digitised collections including works by Purcell. This includes handwritten scores by Purcell to copies produced by others, and this helps us interpret his music today.
  • Janet Jackson was a 20th century icon and Bloomsbury have produced a podcast in which Ayanna Dozier explores Jackson’s life and legacy as a black female artist.
  • Explore 27 items about Beethoven in a British Library online exhibition.
  • And finally, if you are a singer and missing singing alongside other musicians in person as opposed to doing virtual rehearsals on Zoom, sit back for 10 minutes and watch this astounding performance of Thomas Tallis’ Spem in alium, performed by the Ora Singers in the Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall.
