Welcome to the University!

Welcome to the University of Sunderland! You are probably experiencing a mix of emotions as you embark upon your new course, on the one hand its exciting, but on the other it can be extremely nerve-wracking. However, there is lots of support and advice available to help you during your time here.

As part of your induction you may have had a tour of the Library. Here you will find a whole range of resources to help you with your work, but you will also find the Study Skills Team, Helen, Jenny and Sarah. Study Skills Advisers are here to advise and guide students on aspects of their academic work, for example, writing an essay or report, delivering a presentation, how to reference correctly to name but a few! There is also numeracy support available from our Numeracy Adviser, Karen.

If you have a quick question you would like an answer to, come along to one of our drop in sessions, held every Tuesday afternoon between 1pm and 4pm in the Murray Library or every Thursday morning in St Peters Library between 10am and 1pm. Just call in to ask your question.

Alternatively, you may wish to book a one-to-one appointment with a Study Skills Adviser. Appointments are scheduled for an hour, just bring along your work so the Adviser can look at this with you. To book an appointment, you simply need to fill in the online form: One-to-one advice.

Welcome to the university and we look forward to working with you soon!
