Literature, Arts and Medicine database (LitMed)

The LitMed database was created by the New York University School of Medicine and gives the ability to trace references to medical topics in humanities resources including fiction, film, drama and visual arts. It is useful for those seeking examples of depiction of illness or disability in popular culture as well as visual depictions of certain medical topics and conditions. The database is an open access resource, with an Editorial Board composed of scholars, physicians and trainees, all of whom submit annotations for review before publication. The LitMed Magazine was recently relaunched and contributions are invited from interested parties.
