Prof Donna Chambers: Tourism and Power: Knowledge, Being, Emancipation

Donna Chambers, Professor of Tourism within the Faculty of Business, Law & Tourism, will be speaking tonight as part of the University of Sunderland’s Professorial Lecture Series.  Her paper, entitled ‘Tourism and Power: Knowledge, Being, Emancipation’, “draws on critical perspectives, including postcolonial and decolonial theory, to interrogate a range of representations from gay travel in Jamaica, to ‘Third World’ women in Spare Rib magazine”.

The lecture will take place tonight, Wednesday 17th May, 6-7 pm, in Room 007, Prospect Building, University of Sunderland, Sir Tom Cowie Campus.
