ORCID and SURE

Sure is now linked with ORCID, the persistent identifier for researchers.  ORCID (Open Researcher Contributor Identification Initiative) allows users to create a unique 16 digit code that acts something like an ISBN for authors.  There is no charge, and registration takes seconds.  This unique code means researchers can be identified as the author of any piece of research even if they move to another institution, or change their name.  Users can now add their ORCID ID to every research output in SURE:

You can set up your ORCID ID here.  I’d urge all research staff to so since an increasing number of funding bodies and publishers already require their authors to have one.
