Request a Postal Book Loan
(for UK based Distance Learners and Work Based Learners)

Search the Library Catalogue for the book you would like to request
Start at the Library web page and search for the book you wish to borrow. You can search by keyword, title or an authors name.
If there is a copy at the Murray Library or St. Peter’s Library you will be able to request a postal loan.

Click on ‘Reserve this item’.

Login with your University User ID and password.

Choose to collect from St. Peter’s Library or The Murray Library (it doesn’t matter which)
Don’t worry about the ‘collect from’ box. As long as you choose either the Murray Library or St. Peter’s Library it will be posted to you. You do not need to collect it.

Wait for your book(s) to arrive.
Library staff will post the books out to you as soon as it is available. Books will be issued to your library account for 4 weeks, and you may renew them if they are not reserved by another borrower.
We post the books free of charge but will need to pay the return charges and are responsible for the return of the books. We therefore recommend a receipt form of postage.
If you have any questions about your postal loan please contact the library library@sunderland.ac.uk
Tip: check to see if there is an ebook available. That can save you the return postage and get you quicker access to the book.
