The Sunderland Trip<\/strong><\/p>\n

Peg and me made up our minds to have a trip one day.<\/p>\n

So onboard of a boat for Sunderland<\/p>\n

Down the water made our way.<\/p>\n

But, oh when we got out to sea,<\/p>\n

Poor Peg began to throw,<\/p>\n

And to see the tears run down her cheek<\/p>\n

Would have melted a heart of snow.<\/p>\n

She said, are we there, or at Tynemouth or Shields?<\/p>\n

I can\u2019t wait to get on dry land<\/p>\n

For I think I\u2019ll fall out of the boat where I sit<\/p>\n

For I cannot for all the world stand.<\/p>\n

Ay, wor Peggy\u2019s a caution, a caution ye\u2019ll agree,<\/p>\n

And I\u2019ll never forget the Sunderland trip<\/p>\n

When Peggy went with me.<\/p>\n

At last we both got safe on land and Peggy\u2019s clothes made dry<\/p>\n

By the kitchen fire in a public house as she stood heaving a sigh<\/p>\n

Then arm in arm I went with Peg up High Street right away<\/p>\n

And all the folks they stared at Peg \u2013 she\u2019s not one you\u2019ll see every day<\/p>\n

When in the Park among the flowers, She say, \u2018Man this is grand<\/p>\n

And heaven will surely be like this \u2013 if they take in the Bobby\u2019s band\u2019<\/p>\n

Then after we\u2019d been an hour in the park,<\/p>\n

In Bridge Street we made a stop<\/p>\n

For Peggy declared for the good of her health<\/p>\n

She would just have another wee drop.<\/p>\n

Then higher up the town we went to have a really good tea<\/p>\n

\u2018Its nearly as good as I make myself\u2019,<\/p>\n

says Peggy while winking at me.<\/p>\n

Then we set off again for a walk round the town<\/p>\n

As we made up our minds for the train<\/p>\n

For Peggy would never get back on the boat<\/p>\n
