I am a Professor (Research) of Social Sciences and Social Care in the School of Social Sciences and Law. My research interests are related to engagement and participation, mental health, adult abuse and safeguarding, older people and ageing, and empowerment and vulnerability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am an Associate Professor of Practice Research at the University of Sunderland. My research is primarily focused on how generic social work practice can effectively respond to individuals with specific, complex needs; by listening to, and advocating for, the service user voice using an emancipatory practice development framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
