Dr Claire Nally is Senior Lecturer in Twentieth-Century English Literature at the University of Northumbria, where she specialises in Irish Modernism, and contemporary gender studies. Her first monograph, entitled Envisioning Ireland: W. B. Yeats’s Occult Nationalism (2009), considered spiritualism and the Irish cultural contexts of twentieth-century communications with the dead. She has also written on Goth subculture, and as part of her wider engagement with Neo-Victorianism, she is now researching the Crossbones Graveyard (London), and unofficial sites of mourning.
