The North East UKPHR Practitioner Registration Scheme was launched in January 2014 and is coordinated through The University of Sunderland.  The local scheme is open to public health professionals working in local authority, NHS, education or voluntary sector organisations.  A practitioner is defined as someone working wholly in public health, autonomously, at between levels 5 and 7 of the Public Health Skills and Knowledge Framework.  The standards by which practitioners are assessed can be accessed here.

In order to apply for registration with the UKPHR, practitioners are required to develop a retrospective portfolio of evidence mapped to the national standards for public health practice.

Practitioners are supported by the Practitioner Network with regular sessions providing learning and networking opportunities.
