Sharing Mini Minds work more widely

Participatory action research involves people who are concerned about an issue taking a leading role in producing and using knowledge about it. We are taking this approach with our Mini Minds work: school and university staff are working together to carry out research that is relevant to the needs of the school. It’s a different kind of research, in line with Pain et al, 2012. that:

  • is driven by participants (the people who are involved in the issue being researched)
  • university staff are there to help rather than do research on their own agendas
  • is a democratic model of who can produce, own and use knowledge
  • is collaborative, involving discussion, pooling skills and working together
  • is intended to result in some action, change or improvement on the issue being researched

Usually research participants are anonymised in research, but in participatory action research, all the researchers are partners and may choose to be more visible in the sharing of the research.

We are very excited that we have been selected to share a presentation of our Mini Mind work at a conference in June being held at Nottingham Trent University.
