Members of the CVSJ strand have developed specific research interests around offenders and the rationalisation of offending, specifically ethical approaches to computer hacking and the role of technology in supporting desistance amongst young offenders with dyslexia.
CASS members have also been actively involved in research that centres upon the politics of state crime taking the form of historical analyses of law, crime and punishment in north-east England, and the transportation of British criminals to the American colonies, and more contemporary explorations of problems of diaspora and identity under conditions of forced migration and the subjectivity of offenders involved in illegitimate high-yield investment schemes.
