Our Glass and Ceramics Masters students will exhibit their final show ‘WE AR’ at National Glass Centre in October 2017. Completing their studies in late September, the students will use the main gallery space at National Glass Centre to showcase their unique works in glass, ceramics and other mixed media from Friday 6th October until Sunday 8th October (10am-5pm), with a preview the evening of 6th October (6pm – 9pm). 11 students from a diverse creative background will complete their Masters studies after one or two years of full or part time study. The students have worked such mediums as hot glass, architectural glass, cast glass and ceramics, culminating in the final body of work shown in this exhibition.

MA Ceramics student, James Douglass: “Having personally studied and worked at National Glass Centre for a number of years, the show for me is a culmination of a rounded developmental partnership between the University of Sunderland and NGC. I’m proud to complete my studies here in Sunderland with a fantastic group in a fantastic venue.”

Dr Cate Watkinson, MA Programme Leader: “We have a diverse range of ideas coming from the students this year which has resulted in a fascinating array of bodies of work from large scale ceramic sculpture to delicately cast glass human body parts. We are very fortunate to able to show off this year’s talent in the National Glass Centre’s main gallery; a premiere venue in the north-east.”
