Art UK are have announced a three-year project to catalogue the UK’s national sculpture collection. The aim by 2020 is to record about 170,000 sculptures located both outdoors in squares and public spaces, and those part of indoors collections. This will be the largest comprehensive digitisation of a nation’s sculptures in the world. The photographing of these sculptures will help protect those at risk and give the public access to those pieces not usually on display. As part of the project sculptures will be taken into schools, and films will be made to link into the National Curriculum.
